I am currently in the writing up year of my PhD, at the University of York, on Hegel and Adorno - specifically focusing on the way in which each thinker conceptualises human freedom. My decision to re-enter accademic life was prompted by a number of years in dead end office jobs and by the prospect of actually getting paid to sit around and read all day. I am not currently aligned to any political group. Like Teddy, I see the need to attack "both camps" - the accomodation of the market and liberal individualism, on the one hand, and the authoritarian tendancies of many on the hard-left, on the other.
